Volunteering at CROP

CROP aims to provide an excellent volunteer experience and values greatly the difference that volunteers make to the organisation.

CROP’s direct work to support parents is underpinned by the passion, energy and talent of the many volunteers that regularly give their commitment to the organisation.

Volunteer befriending

CROP operates a national volunteer befriending service with the aim of reaching out to parents across the country, to help break their isolation and provide a friendly and informed listening ear.

CROP volunteer befrienders are fully trained and supported to develop a non-judgemental relationship with a parent, based on mutual trust and an ability to empathise with the issues that parents present. Ideally these befriending matches last between 6 and 12 months and the volunteer befriender journeys alongside the parent listening to them and making that difference.

A child is a person under the age of 18. Typically, perpetrators target children aged between 11 and 15.

'It made a huge difference to me, just once a week. I could cry if I wanted, I could shout if I wanted, and she wasn’t taking it personally. I could have lunch in the park, could sit in my house and cry for an hour. She was there for me.'
